A Moldovan electronic music producer and singer-songwriter, Serge Bulat is known for his unique style that draws on such diverse genres as electronica, downtempo, neo-classical, trip-hop, ambient, and experimental music.
Bulat became involved in music at a very early age, first playing the piano when he was just 7. His earliest inspirations included classical, folk, and electronica from the 90s.
As he matured and honed his skills, he started to develop a sound that he could call his own. Upon graduating from music school, where he majored in piano, Serge relocated to Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, to pursue a career in radio.
At the age of 21, Bulat was working at one of the top radio stations in Europe, Europa Plus, making the switch to Radio 21 (Virgin Romania), which was at the time a smaller but fast-growing station. He became known as the host of multiple shows, two of which (Nisha and Ome DeLuxe) aired for 3 years and solidified his position in the music scene. Serge was working in local clubs simultaneously, and after he released two mixtapes with support from the radio station, his profile was higher than ever.
In 2007, Serge Bulat was named the Creative Director of Radio 21. Under his leadership, the station won the VIP Award for Best Radio Station, a major honor. With four years of experience, Serge decided to shift his attention to the Academy of Music, and in 2009, he moved again, this time to New York City. In New York, he has incorporated a high level of experimentation into his work, exploring new forms of remixing and sound design. In 2013, Serge went solo, releasing his first two works, “Shofar” and “Looking Glass,” on which he included samplings of piano, beats, melodica, and poetry. He collaborated with visual artist Abraham Sprinkle of Next Management on a series of artwork as well.
In 2014 Bulat set his mind to Queuelbum, his debut record, which took more than two years to complete. The album evolved into an experiential audio visual project, with the first video installation “Walker” presented in late 2015. The piece was created in collaboration with filmmaker Michael Rfshir, and the album’s lead single. “Automaton,” was released in February of 2016. “Automaton” performed well on radio stations across America and Europe, winning praise and attention for Bulat. He premiered the next video projects “Third World River” and “Queuelbum: A music guide to Time Travel” in the United States, France, Russia, Australia, Argentina, and China, thus launching the project globally.
On May 25, 2016, Serge released the long-anticipated Queuelbum. It was immediately picked up by such publications and radio shows as Amazing Beats, EDM Ranks, Top 40 Charts, Earbits, One World Radio, Feedbands and The Crate. The album was highly-reviewed in The Deli Magazine, Facts and Arts, Beat, EDM Rush, The Noise Gate, Musical America, Artist Reach, and The Hype, where it was described as “an ambitious project”, “truly innovative,” and “an existential musical journey.” Bulat has also been honored with the Artist of the Month title by The Deli NYC, as well as various “Best of the Year” charts.
Queuelbum earned Bulat a major nomination at the 15th Annual Independent Music Awards. He won the award in November 2016, taking the trophy for Best Dance/Electronica Album of the Year.
Bulat’s new EP, Third World Walker, has already been announced, as have the remix series of Queuelbum, which will be released in 2017. The EP will feature singles such as “Walker,” “Third World River,” and “Red Shift Motel,” along with new collaborations with Clan Balache.

Revealed: Ladies and Gents,
I give you QUEUELBUM!
Thrilled to announce the title and details about my new record! It is called "Queuelbum" and will be released this coming spring with a new single out on February 16th. To describe this work best: the album is an audio-visual journey through time, based on my own perception and experience on this matter. Two parts of the album - Q15 and Q25, represent Past and Future, while you and I - the listeners, are The Now, as we delve into both worlds. We listen to the music, creating new memories, connected to whether positive, neutral or, sometimes, negative experiences; fact is - this process happens all the time in real life: every minute, hour, day and so on. Eventually we charge every moment with the energy. When we do so (in this case experiencing the sound of Queuelbum), we co-create its world. Now, every time we listen to the piece again - we travel back in time, synchronically living in the present and gently sneaking into the future. And this is how we operate and master time machine...
Can’t wait to share “Queuelbum” with you!
Album is in the works!
Very excited to share the news: My full length is on the way! It is a concept album to be expressed and explored in various art forms. Cant wait to announce the details!
Looking Glass is here!
Our collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Sakura Toyama is out now!
Looking Glass is a meditative conversation of two artists through musical instruments and their own voices. The challenge was to tell a story through piano, poetry, the beats and deliver the same message equally. The result turned into a peaceful musical battle... Check the track in Music chapter or on Soundcloud.
